Kev and I, like many of you, I’m sure, do not have a land line phone. Almost everyone we call is long distance and it made sense for us to ditch the land line right after we moved into our house 6 years ago. We were paying 2 phone bills and only receiving telemarketing calls on our land line. Who wants to pay for that?
Our family wireless plan has worked out well. We share 700 monthly minutes and each get 250 text/picture/video messages for only $5 extra. Every month when I receive our wireless bill I glance at it, verify that it’s the same amount as always, then pay it without giving it a second thought.
As I was setting up the payment for this month’s bill, I decided to compare how many minutes we each use. Want proof that women talk more than men? I used 214 minutes and Kev used 86.
I also win the prize for the most texts. I sent/received 108 messages compared to Kev’s measly 13. I got a new phone at the end of the year that has a full keyboard, which explains that. It’s much easier to type out a short message when you don’t have to hit the same number multiple times to get the letter you want.
Time for full disclosure. How many wireless minutes do you use a month? How many texts? How about your significant other? I’m sure someone will blow my stats out of the water. Have at it!
Tim and I share 1500 minutes and unlimited text messaging and our stats are as follows: Last month, I used 122 minutes and Tim used 183, however, we both used 393 mobile to mobile mins (prolly talking to each other!) and we had some night and weekend minutes thrown in there as well! I am usually way above Tim in the minutes dept. I sent/received 484 texts vs Tim’s 147
So, my stats agree with yours Monica! Clearly though, we have way too many minutes to be using….1500!?! Who talks that much?!
1500 minutes is 25 hours! LOL! I didn’t include our mobile to mobile minutes. I think that was close to 200 minutes.
Ok, the truth might hurt here…
We have a share plan for 700 minutes. Last month’s bill, I used 404. Paul used 6. (he works from home now so rarely uses his cell anymore). I also had another 160 minutes of M2M or night/weekend calls.
As for texts…I blow him out of the water too. I have a plan for unlimited M2M and then 500 others. I used 500+ M2M (mostly between my sister and I) and another 274 outside the network. Paul sent 9 texts all month (& those were probably to me!)
I think we are back to sharing 1000 minutes a month but we are on Verizon so our minutes talking to each other don’t count toward that. Nor do my minutes talking to my family or anyone else who happens to be on Verizon.
I think Mike still uses at least 100 more minutes per month than I do, although it’s less now that he doesn’t have “down time” between flights at work. But he still spends a lot of time out of town in hotels and that’s when he calls people.
We both hover around 20 texts per month. I still think texting is dumb.
I too have Verizon, and I recently lowered my plan minutes because I was not using all 1400 minutes. It is a family share plan with the other line being Ryan’s OnStar in his car. He uses less than 100 minutes a month from his car, and I get to use the rest of minutes myself.
We just switched to the 700 minute plan, it will save us $20. As soon as the Verizon/Alltel conversion happens, Ryan will have to dump his Alltel account and join on my family share plan from Verizon. This should save us money I hope (Both my bill from Verizon and Ryan’s from alltel are over $100 each a month…but we like to use all the fun stuff)
I have a 450 min. plan from Verizon…usually I’m below that & have hardly any texts. No idea about Keith since he’s had work Blackberrys since before we met. Now that I’ll be working at the school too I can get their group discount so I’m looking at what it will cost to get my own Blackberry.
Oh dear…
Glancing at the phone bill is a bit embarrassing, but I guess I have to keep in mind that John and I don’t live together, and we live over an hour away from each other… so… our phone and text times are a bit exaggerated…
I have about 2300 minutes of talk time…
Over 600 text messages…
John has 1900 minutes of talk time…
And just about 600 text messages… yikes.
